Animating rigged character in Unity 3D

I am having some problems with this rigged model:

I want to animate it with a skinnedMeshRenderer component in Unity. The body is animating correctly but when trying to animate the head (that is seperated from the body) with a skinnedMeshRenderer, it says that the assigned mesh has no bone weights.
