После окончания Второй мировой и начала холодной войны эскадренные миноносцы типа «Флетчер» постепенно передавались ВМС военно-политических союзников США. Эсминцы типа «Флетчер» являются самыми известными эсминцами США и самым крупносерийным типом эсминцев в мире за всю историю флота. Четыре эсминца типа «Флетчер» в настоящее время являются кораблями-музеями.
